Let's face it, getting a book edited can be expensive. A single pass on a 120,000-word manuscript can cost $2500. That's one pass! Subsequent passes on revisions will probably cost less, because the manuscript will be cleaner and have fewer errors, but what if your book requires three or four passes? You're looking at thousands of dollars. And you're still not ready to publish it. It needs to be proofread and formatted. You need to get the cover art created. Before you book goes to print, the editing process could eat up $10,000 or more. Then, when you finally do have it in your hands, you have to promote it. It could takes several years to recoup your investment.
What if you could save some money and possibly finish your book sooner?
How, you ask?
Consider hiring a book coach!
While book coaches (aka writing coaches, or author coaches) don't typically replace editors, they can help preclude the need for developmental editing, and they will guide you through the process of finishing a solid first draft. Because they work with you to develop characters and keep the plot from veering off course, your first draft will be way ahead of the pack in terms of required editing intervention.
But I asked if you wanted to save money? So far, it sounds like a book coach is going to cost you even more money. Well, I'm not done yet!
My approach to book coaching is a little different. I'm not just a cheerleader, or a task master. I will cheer you on, and I will hold you accountable, but I will also edit your story as we go. By the time you have finished your first draft, it will be polished and sparking and practically perfect in every way!

I will happily jump in at any stage of the game. Whether you are just mulling over an idea for a book, you have started a book and don't know what to do with it, or you have finished a first draft and need some feedback and direction with it, I will get you going, motivate you to keep going, or help you guide through a round or two of revisions.
You may still want or need to run your manuscript through a copy-edit (and I can help with that too - at a discount if you hire me to coach you), but it will be a relative breeze because you didn't have to go it alone. And you really will have gotten...
...more bang for your buck!
Financially, the book coaching route makes a lot of sense.
You pay in smaller chunks.
You can pause the coaching process any time - for vacations, family emergencies, or budgetary setbacks.
You set the pace - weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions - that fits your schedule and your budget.
Plus, you get support all the way through.
Do you have a book rattling around in your head? Is there a half-finished story sitting in a folder somewhere on your laptop? Have you finished a draft and want to see it in print?
